Pushkar was born at the dusk of a Dashami day of Sharada Ritu (14^th Nov’1979) in a family that has been associated with the technical field of engineering for many generations. His father was a high ranking executive in Kirloskar Cummins Ltd. and his mother is a renowned Reiki Master and Counsellor.

Pushkar has inherited musical talent from both sides of his family. Although none in his family got the chance to undertake formal training in music from a Guru, they all are great 'Kaansens' (connoisseurs) of music. Pushkar lost his father, quite early in life, to cancer. However his mother has been a pillar of strength and a constant source of support, comfort and encouragement to him.

So it was only natural that after “unfortunately” doing well in the twelfth standard, as Pushkar puts it, he took up engineering by default. He joined a premier engineering college in the Electronics and Telecommunications branch. But soon he realized that he was never born to be one of those run-of-the-mills engineers. He was always destined for something divine and could no longer supress his inner voice. “It was a tumultuous time in my life when I decided to give up engineering and take up music as a full time career. But I had my mother’s complete support and I decided to go through with my decision against the advice of many.” says Pushkar.

This led to his enrolment in Centre for Performing Arts popularly known as Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune for a Bachelor's degree course in Music. He has done his diploma in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from the prestigious Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. Currently he is pursuing his MA in Vocal Music from Lalit Kala Kendra.

Without the backing of any Godfather/Godmother or institution, Pushkar has come along, all this far, all on the basis of his own merit and talent. He attributes his success to his hard work and the blessings of his mother, his Gurus and all his well-wishers and friends who are eminent personalities from a variety of fields like theatre, dance, architecture, engineering, education and many others.
